The Department of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering aims to educate students and provide them with experiences in the field of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering Technologies. The graduate is equipped to be a technical engineer with the ability to work with various types and applications of air conditioning and refrigeration systems. This includes tasks such as developing initial designs, supervising installation, and conducting repair and maintenance work. Additionally, the department covers related engineering areas such as renewable energy and thermodynamics.

Mission

The Department of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering adopts a general mission based on the framework of technical education in Iraq, with a specific mission aiming to highlight the department's excellence. The overall objectives focus on graduating nationally qualified engineering technicians who are capable of understanding modern technology systems in the field of specialization. Additionally, the department aims to contribute to finding practical solutions to various environmental issues and support the technical development process to keep pace with rapid global technological advancements.

Objectives

Expanding in technical specialization according to the needs of the job market and technological advancements. Utilizing computer and internet technologies in education and training. Enhancing relationships with both the public and private sectors in the field of training. Monitoring developments in academic curricula, both theoretical and practical, through coordination with relevant governmental and private specialties. Focusing on practical training aspects and subsequently updating laboratories, facilities, and specialized workshops. Interacting with the job market and the community's needs in terms of qualification and training.

Admission system

Students are accepted into the college through three entrances:

1. Graduates of general secondary education in the scientific branch, representing the main source for the department.

2. Students from graduates of technical institutes.

3. Students from graduates of industrial professional preparatory schools.

School system

The study in the Department of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering follows the annual academic system, with a duration of four academic years. During this period, students receive both theoretical and practical lessons. Students undergo systematic training during the second and third stages, which takes place during the summer break in specialized laboratories.

Certificate awarded

Graduates of the Department of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering are awarded a Bachelor's degree in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering, which is part of the general field of Mechanical Engineering. They are eligible to apply for membership in the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate, and the certificate qualifies them to become practical engineers. Graduates also have the right to apply for postgraduate studies inside and outside the country.
